Perm Octo Clave Induction Set is a body of work created by drummer and electronic musician, FROST. Centred on a binary rhythmic framework, the collection encompasses 10 songs released as five separate records throughout 2021. Each song explores a unique iteration of a rhythmic motif, with acoustic instrumentation in dialogue with sequenced electronics.

The initial instalment blended electronic and analogue sounds in various ways, unlinking them from their natural context, with live drum takes triggering synthesizers and acoustic textures processed through computer-sequencing.

The second instalment embraces real time and tangible space at its core, with both songs being built upon physical performances, minimalist chord structures and an intentionally limited sound palette. This calls the listener to place the songs in a physical context.

There are reoccurring themes of minimalism, leftfield techno and post rock, underpinned by the ideology of networked beats. Using a self-sufficient DIY approach to releasing music, each physical record has been hand cut using a Japanese toy record maker and the record sleeves screen printed and laser cut.
